Bridges

Replace missing teeth with a natural-looking bridge that restores your bite, your smile, and your confidence.

Dental Bridges

A bridge may be used to replace missing teeth, help maintain the shape of your face, and alleviate stress on your bite. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth — it looks great and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been.

How a Bridge Works

Your bridge can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, zirconia, or a combination of materials. It is bonded onto surrounding teeth (called abutment teeth) for support. The artificial replacement teeth in the middle are called pontics.

The success of any bridge depends on its foundation — the other teeth, gums, or bone to which it is attached. Therefore, it's very important to keep your existing teeth, gums, and jaw healthy and strong.

Benefits of a Bridge

  • Restores your smile and the ability to chew and speak properly
  • Maintains the shape of your face
  • Distributes the forces in your bite properly by replacing missing teeth
  • Prevents remaining teeth from drifting out of position

A well-maintained bridge can last 7 to 10 years or longer. Good oral hygiene, including special flossing under the bridge, is essential for longevity.
